Sideloading Guides

Windows Sideloading Instructions

Use these instructions to sideload a downloaded package file (see above). Note that this file is not signed. For a seamless, secure installation, download from the Microsoft Store instead.

Step 1: Enable Developer Mode

  1. Open Settings (Windows + I)
  2. Go to Update & Security > For developers
  3. Turn on Developer Mode
  4. Confirm when prompted

Step 2: Download and Install

  1. Download the MSIX package using the button above
  2. Right-click the downloaded file and obtain its path
  3. Or open PowerShell as Administrator and run:
Add-AppxPackage -AllowUnsigned -Path "path-to-downloaded-file"

Step 3: Launch

  1. Search for "HouzLinc" in the Start menu
  2. Click to launch the application
  3. Configure your Insteon Hub connection

Android Sideloading Instructions

Step 1: Enable Unknown Sources

  1. Open Settings on your Android device
  2. Go to Security & privacy > Install unknown apps
  3. Select your browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc.)
  4. Toggle "Allow from this source"

Step 2: Download and Install

  1. Download the APK file using the button above
  2. Open the downloaded APK file
  3. Tap "Install" when prompted
  4. Wait for installation to complete

Step 3: Launch

  1. Find HouzLinc in your app drawer
  2. Tap to launch the application
  3. Grant necessary permissions
  4. Configure your Insteon Hub connection
